"Desserts are really about pleasure, with or without a meal. They should be visually seductive when looked at and ethereal when bitten into." That's the baking philosophy of Elizabeth Falkner.

With a background in fine art, a passion for film, and a love of all things sweet, Elizabeth creates pastries and cakes that are both visually breathtaking and delicious to the palate. In 1995 she was named a "Rising Star Chef" by the San Francisco Chronicle, and in 1999 was voted "Pastry Chef of the Year".

Elizabeth's dessert ideas are so innovative, in fact, that she's been commissioned by the California Museum of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. In between art projects, Elizabeth regularly prepares outrageous desserts for celebrities and hi-profile weddings and fundraisers.

Citizen Cake, Elizabeth's pastry shop and cafe in San Francisco, (399 Grove St.) specializes in breakfast pastries, artisan breads, hand-made chocolates, ice cream, and her true passion: cakes. The recipes on this site are some of the same ones used at Citizen Cake.

With Elizabeth's recipes and Baker's Sugar, you'll be able to bake some supreme creations of your own!
